We invited in Mrs. Barnett's class to teach them about erosion and deposition and how the Grand Canyon was formed. The students created lesson plans and activities to teach these concepts. I was so proud of the job they did!
The students learned about the three types of writing: expository, narrative and persuasive. They then brought in examples of them and had to find and sort all the examples. The next day the students were able to create their own set up to see what would happen. Some students chose floods and houses, others created dams and some created mountains. The students were able to use stream tables to see exactly how the grand canyon was formed and the different land forms created with erosion and weathering. As we reviewed the scientific method the students put it into action with this baby food experiment. The students had to work in groups to move these cups into different arrangements only using a rubberband and string. It was a great experience to use good communication with their classmates! |
