On Friday we had fun by combining different chemicals and seeing how they react combined together with water! The students predicted which items would be the most soluble. Then they tested it by using water to dissolve the materials. The students mixed gravel, salt, and a powder together. They then had to come up with a plan how to separate all of these items from each other using the methods we have learned about over the weeks. We created a variety of Kool Aid recipes to determine which was the best one. Some were diluted and some were concentrated. The students recognized the solute and the solvent. Mrs. Buechlein and Mrs. Williams brought their classes together to send Hayden off to Germany! The students all shared a written piece to Hayden in a book we put together. The students created mixtures and then tested different ways to separate the mixtures. Last Week the students made a salt solution and this week they will observe it to see how to separate a salt solution! The students had 3 different stations to explore the Properties of Matter. They tested magnetism, mass and volume. The students had a great time at their fall party. They enjoyed a fall mix, cupcakes and a fall movie! |
